The Lockerbie bomb -revisited

Was Libya and the Libyan citizen now in jail setup for larger and more evil political plotting and scheming ? I've always maintained that there is a larger chance that my country had nothing to do with this atrocious event, that we should look beyond to WHO benefits ? Cui bono and Cuoi prodest? These are the questions we should always ask ourselves. People just don't shoot themselves in the eye if they are already in a tight spot. It is the same thing with the Hariri assassination...why would the Syrians be so stupid ?

There has been talk recently of a lot of irregularities at the trial of Megrahi:

The fresh doubts over the forensic evidence are being considered alongside recent claims by an anonymous former Scottish police chief who last month gave Megrahi's lawyers a sworn signed (please check the links on the right in The Scotsman) statement claiming that key evidence in the trial was fabricated.

After the trial, legal observers from around the world, including senior United Nations officials, expressed disquiet about the verdict. Many believed the true suspects in the case were members of the Syrian-led Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command (PFLP-GC), a terror group backed by Iranian cash. Documents leaked from the US Defence Intelligence Agency two years after the Libyans were identified as the prime suspects still blamed the PFLP-GC.

Further tests are now set to be conducted to see how the mix-up happened.

Not accusing anyone here ..I have my little theory on the subject. But paying compensation to the victims is insignificant to get out of international isolation, if that is the price even if he is innocent because stagnancy on the issue dragged on too long. As the old adage says "when you can't beat them .join them !".
If further evidence prove he is innocent, then he should be compensated, Libyans should be compensated, the compensation money we paid should be returned and the world will owes us a collective apology. If he is not innocent ..well he is in prison anyway and compensations to victims have been settled. All is legal.

Hi again Highlander, glad to see you are getting back into politics a bit :)

# I've always maintained that there is
# a larger chance that my country had
# nothing to do with this atrocious
# event, that we should look beyond to
# WHO benefits ?

OK... who benefitted from that?

# It is the same thing with the
# Hariri assassination...why would
# the Syrians be so stupid ?

Because they thought they could get away with it, once again? Only, they didn't, this time?

# Many believed the true suspects in
# the case were members of the
# Syrian-led Popular Front for the
# Liberation of Palestine General
# Command (PFLP-GC), a terror group
# backed by Iranian cash.

That's the other theory for who was behind the Lockerbie bombing. Is it your contention that the Iranians, Syrians and Palestinians benefitted from the Lockerbie bombing? I'm not really following your theory, Highlnader... you throw a lot of stuff out there, but you don't really voice any opinions.

As for the "why would the Syrians be so stupid" comment in regards to teh Hariris assassination, why would they be stupid enough to bomb a civilian air liner? Why were they stupid enough to kidnap western journalists in Beirut? WHy were the Iranians stupid enough to seize the US embassy in Tehran and hold American diplomats hostage for over a year?

People are stupid. The conclusion is inescapable. It's unreasonable to expect politicians of average intellignce to behave brilliantly. They don't. They do the same stupid things and make the same stupid mistakes that everyone else does.

# People just don't shoot themselves
# in the eye if they are already in
# a tight spot.

Gotta disagree with you there, H!

World history tells a different tale!

I agree with you P_Craig.
If you guys live in this region you would be shocked at the stupidity and mental retardedness of these dark age Arab dictators.

They have been placed on our heads by non-other than our region's superpower (israel) that treats us as its enemies that should be kept underdeveloped at any cost.

The reason for all this sudden rupture of new evidence for a new trial of Al-Magrahi is the recent bait thrown on TV by the true culprit of this horrific Lockerbie crime that he is willing to give britain a BILION DOLLARS if they would release Al-Magrahi.

The Brits of course are going to stage a nice show before concuding the deal.

Again western democracy at its best my friends. everything has a price, even the blood of their grandmothers.

[ you throw a lot of stuff out there, but you don't really voice any opinions.]

DM has just answered you regarding who benefitted ;), while I put forth that there were other theories around.

As always I keep an open mind on these issues because everything gets revealed in its own time.

You've just answered PC who you think is behind everything bad in the Arab World;)

[is the recent bait thrown on TV by the true culprit of this horrific Lockerbie crime that he is willing to give britain a BILION DOLLARS if they would release Al-Magrahi.]

Stupid Politicians

Ok Highlander please let me elaborate why I agree with P_Craig on this.

As the Syrian dark age dictatorship announced the suicide (actually the execution most certainly) of its interior minister and former security chief in lebanon Ghazi Kanaan. Do you still doubt their assassination of Mr Hariri.

That dictatorship is not smart enough to take that decision. Their masterminds the Israelis did. The Syrians with their Lebanese subordinates only carried it out. And they were stupid enough not to be able to cover their tracks. They were very easily exposed by the high caliber German investigator.

Why? The Israelis definitely would not want to see an Arab reach the heights and world prominence of Mr. Hariri. To them, the Arabs should only be portrayed as terrorists and mentally retarded gun thwarting fighters. Mr. Hariri was the most valuable target for the bloody Jews in their frantic efforts to destabilize Lebanon in order to destroy Hezbollah. The Syrians were only carrying out the orders of their Mosad masters.

Whether Hriri was a saint or not, he certainly should not have been murdered in that barbaric way. No one straight in his/her mind would say a word of support for that I would think.

Hariri bank rolled the reconstruction of Lebanon after its painful civil war mostly from his personal wealth. As far as I know, he is the only Arab billionaire to become a true philanthropist in the world.

He was self made as you know, not a robber of his nation's wealth like the "other ones". Hariri's fund at his death was supporting about 35 thousand Lebanese graduate and college students all over the world regardless of their religion or sect.

To see the value and the nature of the man, please look at the weeping Christians and Muslims at his funeral on Lebanese TV my friend.

His loss is astronomical for the entire Arab world and no punishment is sufficient for those stupid perpetrators and masterminds of his tragic death.

More on the "real worth" of western democracy. You asked: why would the Brits want any "more" money as they have already got sooooooooo much of it.

Believe me my friend. For one more Billion dollars, the Brits would be glad to hand over their beloved Queen E II. Complete with her bed sheets, socks and even underwear ……… not just a convicted third world security officer who is costing them so much to feed in a maximum security prison.
